Piroxicam capsules are a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. They are used for symptomatic treatment to relieve pain and swelling in various types of arthritis and soft tissue lesions.
Piroxicam capsules exerts pharmacological effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase to reduce the synthesis of prostaglandins in local tissues and by suppressing the chemotaxis of white blood cells and the release of lysosomal enzymes. The analgesic and anti-swelling effects of this product in the treatment of arthritis are similar to those of indomethacin, aspirin and naproxen.
Adverse reactions
1. Nausea, stomachache, loss of appetite and indigestion and other gastrointestinal adverse reactions are the most common.
2. Neutropenia, eosinophilia, elevated blood urea nitrogen, dizziness, vertigo, tinnitus, headache, general weakness, edema, rash or itching, etc.
3. Abnormal liver function, thrombocytopenia, excessive sweating, skin ecchymosis, peeling, erythema multiforme, toxic epithelial necrosis, bullous erythema multiforme (Stevens-Johnson syndrome), skin hypersensitivity to light, blurred vision, red and swollen eyes, hypertension, hematuria, hypoglycemia, depression, insomnia and mental tension, etc.
